The Oregon Clinic is honored to welcome Kevin M. Reavis, MD to its Gastrointestinal & Minimally Invasive Surgery division. In addition to being a board-certified surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Reavis is a widely published researcher and frequent lecturer on emerging technologies used to treat gastrointestinal diseases.
“Dr. Reavis is highly regarded among his peers as a surgeon, researcher and leader,” said Dr. Richard Jamison of The Oregon Clinic. “We are extremely pleased to have him join our prominent team of surgeons.”
Dr. Reavis’ main interests include diseases of the foregut, surgical instrument innovation, endolumenal therapies and surgical education. He has published more than 35 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and is much in demand as a speaker at hospitals, universities, medical conferences and meetings. He is also a reviewer for ten medical journals and is on the editorial board of World Journal of Gastroenterology, Global Journal of Surgery and the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology.
After receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts in chemistry from University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Dr. Reavis earned a medical degree from Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Ore. and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Ohio State University (OSU). He was recently a staff physician with the Department of Surgery at Long Beach Healthcare System in Long Beach, Calif., and, concurrently, an assistant professor of clinical surgery at the University of California, Irvine, for the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
His most recent awards include an Award for Excellence in Patient Directed Care from Long Beach VA Medical Center; a Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES)/Karl Storz Traveling Fellowship and the Baker-Moseley Resident Award in Surgical Oncology from the Oregon Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
Dr. Reavis is an active leader in the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and the American Medical Association.
